According to the International Franchise Association (IFA), franchising is defined as an agreement or license between two legally independent parties which gives:

• A person or group of people (the franchisee) the right to market a product or service using the trademark or trade name of another business (the franchisor)
• The franchisee the right to market a product or service using the operating methods of the franchisor
• The franchisee the obligation to pay the franchisor fees for these rights
• The franchisor the obligation to provide rights and support to franchisees

In short, franchising can be defined as a strategic alliance between groups of people who have specific relationships and responsibilities with a common goal to dominate markets in order to keep and get more customers.

MLM or Network Marketing: Are They The Same?

When you are looking for a business opportunity whether an online business or not, you would always encounter these, MLM or Network Marketing Opportunity. Many of you must have done research on what it is and some of you must have done it, still doing it or contemplating in doing it.

So, it is just as important to know if MLM or Network Marketing are just the same or not?

MLM known as Multi-Level Marketing is also known as “network marketing”. It is a legitimate business model that uses several ways of selling goods or services through independent distributors of the company such as referral program or direct selling methods. Independent distributors do not receive salary, they are compensated through commissions based on the sale of products coming from their own sales as well as from the sales of those independent distributors they have referred to the program and the team they are supporting.

But most people confuse MLM/Network Marketing with pyramid scheme. Legitimate MLM companies’ base their compensation on the amount of products sold and not on the mere act of recruiting. Selling the products or services should be main activity within an MLM company not just by making profit from recruiting distributors as a way to earn money.

MLM can also be known as direct selling, affiliate marketing or home based business franchising plans  as it does entail several methods in different programs that would market its products and services effectively. As long as its focus is on distributing products or offerring services and not on recruiting people, the MLM company is a legit business.

Almost everyone is online most of the time while at home, even at work or anywhere as long as there is an internet connection. They can use their mobile phone or tablets or netbook to get online. 1. Information Marketing

     

     Why are you reading this article in the first place? Simply because you were looking for an answer to your question about online business right? People like you would normally go online to search for information, for answers to whatever question you have in mind and anything that you find interesting that will answer your question will be valuable for you. 

You know that not all the information that you want, you can get it free online. There are instances wherein you have to pay the person who has the information or  answers that you need for you to have it. That is what Information marketing is all about. 

We have our own fields of expertise. I may be good in writing stuff about MLM or Online businesses but you might be good in writing about fashion or golf or anything about your hobbies or work related stuff. You can offer what you know and sell it to people who needs it and this could be in the form of E-books, Videos or Audios and you can start earning from it.

2. Affiliate Marketing

This is the easiest and possible the effortless way of making money online if you know how to do it.

Why? Because you get paid without interacting with the customers, closing the sale and processing the sale. All you do is refer or recommend someone else's business then you get a referral commission for sending customers to their sites (vendors) that are set up in a program that will pay affiliate fees once a sales is made through your referral.

The vendor is the one responsible for everything, from selling to purchases and customer related issues and you get paid for referring that customer to their site, that's it!

This might sound really easy but I would suggest that you choose the affiliate program that you are passionate about or that you find yourself useful for other people that's why you are going to recommend it. It would be much more fun and rewarding on your part recommending vendors if you believe in their products or services as well. You should laso consider their commission structure and take advantage of those who are generous enough paying you high commissions.

3. Sell Online

There is a lot of online marketplaces where you can sell your products online either old stuff or new stuff. You can use ebay to sell your products and start with things that you are no longer using. At least you would still be able to earn even from old stuff and help you clean out your space in the house.

Selling online is much smarter rather than renting a place paying rental charges and salaries to your staff to sell your products without the security of having customers that will buy your products. When your products are online, there is a greater chance for you to be found as long as you know how to market your product online. No rental charges and salaries to worry about even if it does not sell while you are still establishing your presence online.

4. Blogging

Love writing? I'm sure this is not the first time you will hear about this,you can earn from writing. Writing online or Blogging as what they call it is the most popular way to make money online.

Find a topic that you are interested in or write about your hobbies such as biking, fashion,shopping,movies or anything that you will be comfortable writing about. 

As soon as poeple start reading your blogs and you are driving traffic to your site, you can sign up for adsense(Google's ad revenue sharing plan) or actively by doing a little bit of affiliate marketing. Then you will start earning from those ads or from your affiliate marketing.

5. Freelance Services

You can work from home online as a Freelance Service Provider. You can offer professional services in photography, web design, programming or become a virtual assistant with skills such as sales, customer service.

You can use Odesk as a platform where you can apply as an independent contractor and get hired to do jobs for employers who are looking to outsource people to do the work.
